Vivo to bring its design, research and development centres to India

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has reported that it is going to invest more in India for bringing its research and development, design centres for supporting it’s Make in India strategy, having announced already a Rs 4000 crore investment to set up a new manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh that is going to generate 5000 jobs in the first phase. Brand strategy director at Vivo Nipun Marya told that they believe that they going to invest even more in bringing design to India and research and development India in the future and are evaluating all those options.

Vivo also told that it grew 60.9% in terms of volume and 63.2% in terms of value in January 2019 even as industry grew at a mere 14.2% by volume and 16.8% by value. Analysts say that the setting up of research and development centres is a natural extension of Vivo India strategy, that is going to help the brands predict and be on top of the trends faster than the other competitors. At present, Vivo handsets are available in India with more than 70000 retailers.
