Thunderstorm hits West Tripura, uprooting trees, damaging houses

Hundreds of trees got uprooted, several houses have been damaged and power lines also snapped as strong winds along with thundershower hit West Tripura district.

According to the information received from chief state project officer of disaster management authority Sarat Das, approximately 380 houses have been damaged because of the strong winds and thunder shower with water logging in various areas under the Municipal Corporation of Agartala.

He also told that chief secretary LK Gupta has reviewed the situation already along with senior officials and has also requested to take required actions to drain water from the inundated areas.

Snapped power supply lines have also been restored. The chief Minister’s office also told that the government is monitoring the situation closely and that Biplab Dev spoken to the officials for expediting the supplies restoration.
