THREE ISLANDS OF ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR RENAMED BY PM MODI

On the occasion of 75th anniversary of Tricolour hoisting by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in Port Blair, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi announced renaming of three islands of Andaman and Nicobar on Sunday. 

During the speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Neil island was renamed as Shaheed Dweep, the Ross island would now be known as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep and the Havelock island was renamed as Swaraj Dweep.

On this special occasion, the prime Minister also released a Rs 75 coin, a commemorative stamp and its first day cover. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced the setting up of a deemed university after Subhash Chandra Bose.

Narendra Modi visited the Marina Park in Port Blair, earlier, and hosted and national flag on a 150-high mast.

Narendra Modi also paid his tribute in the park at Netaji statue.
