Sri Lankan President Sirisena to attend PM Modi’s swearing-in ceremony

President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena is going to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to be held on 30th May in New Delhi, according to information received from the officials at the President’s office.

The official informed on Saturday that it is confirmed that the president spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday and had also send a congratulatory message to Narendra Modi on Friday and spoke to him.

Maithripala Sirisena told in a tweet that it was a pleasure congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone and that he shared thoughts that Sri Lanka also celebrates along with India on his election. Maithripala Sirisena also told that they look forward to working together for developing the bilateral ties between India and Sri Lanka further.

Following the election of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister for the first time in 2014 May, the then president of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa attended the swearing in ceremony with other regional leaders accompanying him.
