Sonia Gandhi elected Congress Parliamentary Party leader

Sonia Gandhi was elected leader of the Congress parliamentary party once again at a meeting of Congress MPs on Saturday at the Central Hall of Parliament. The meeting was attended by 52 newly elected Lok Sabha MPs and Rajya Sabha members of Congress Party.

Sonia Gandhi represents Rae Bareli constituency of Uttar Pradesh in Lok Sabha and also happens to be the chairperson of the United progressive Alliance led by Congress party.

Chief spokesperson of Congress party Randeep Surjewala wrote on his Twitter handle that Sonia Gandhi was elected as the leader of the Congress parliamentary party and that she thanks the 12.13 crore voters for having reposed faith in the party.

The members of the Parliament are also going to elect the Congress leader in Lok Sabha and chalk out the strategy of Congress Party for the upcoming parliamentary session. This is going to be the first official meeting that President Of Congress Party Rahul Gandhi is going to attend after the 25th May meeting of the working committee of congress party.

It is to be recalled that the Congress working committee has rejected Rahul Gandhi’s offer to resign already and pass the resolution unanimously authorising him to bring structural changes in the Congress party at all levels for revamping it.
