Sarada chit fund scam: SC vacates interim protection to Rajeev Kumar

The Supreme Court of India vacated the interim protection granted to former police commissioner of Kolkata Rajeev Kumar on Friday from arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Sarada Chit Fund Scam case.

Central Bureau of Investigation has accused Rajeev Kumar of tampering with evidence for shielding powerful politicians. The Supreme Court however granted seven days period of time to former Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar for taking appropriate legal remedies.

The Supreme Court also expressed concern over the manner in which the Chit Fund case panned out and also vacated its 5th February order granting the interim protection from arrest to Rajiv Kumar.
