Rashid Khan, who surprised everyone with his magical bowling in the T20Is has achieved a rare feat in the shortest format in the match against Ireland.
Rashid hogged the limelight by picking up a brilliant hat-trick as he became the first spinner to take a hat-trick in T20Is. Surprisingly, Rashid picked up four wickets in four consecutive deliveries, making him the only bowler to do so in T20Is till now.
The first six hat-tricks in T20Is were all by pace bowlers, with the likes of Brett Lee, Jacob Oram, Tim Southee, Thissara Perera, Faheem Ashraf, and Lasith Malinga achieving the feat.
Batting first, Afghanistan posted a mammoth total of 210-7 in 20 overs as Mohammad Nabi scored a quickfire 81 runs off just 36 balls which had seven sixes and six boundaries. Nabi was also named the ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Man of the Series’ for his scintillating displays throughout the series.
“It’s a good feeling. If I don’t perform with the bat, I try to do with the ball or in the field. It’s important to pass on my information to the younger players. We (me and Rashid) play a lot across the globe and it’s crucial to pass on the experience,” said Nabi in the post-match presentation.
Whereas Afghanistan skipper Asghar Afghan expressed his delight after the T20I series win against Ireland. “Very happy as we won the series. Great for the team and for the people of Afghanistan. We are giving a lot of chance to the new talents for the ODI series as the World Cup is important for us. We want to dedicate this series win to the people of Afghanistan and I have a message to say.”
