Public exam for 5th and 8th class!

Earlier TN Govt had the no detention policy so that no pupil gets failed and is retained in the same class, considering the right to education which offers education without failing, till elementary school but now in an opposite decision the TN govt has declared public exams for even 5th and 8th class students.

There were reportedly objections that the education quality is poor and hence to increase the quality a public exam system will be in for 5th and 8th standard, and after failing once, if they fail again after the re-exam in 2 months, they will be retained in the same class for the next year.

Already the Directorate of govt exams has been asked to prepare question papers, and Minister Sengottayan has said that the amendment for this in Right to education act 2009 will be made after final negotiations with educationists and parents. This might come into play from the next educational year.
