A day after the election campaigning for the ongoing general elections winded up, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at Kedarnath on Saturday. The Prime Minister is likely to be in Badrinath tomorrow.
The Prime Minister was dressed in a traditional grey Pahari attire and offered prayers at the Himalayan shrine for over half an hour and also undertook a circumambulation of the Kedarnath shrine situated near the Mandakini river at a height of 11755 feet.
PM Modi then went inside a cave for meditating. District collector of Rudraprayag Mangesh Ghildiyal told that devotees and pilgrims were not allowed to enter inside the Kedarnath temple premises when the Prime Minister was offering prayers.
The Election Commission of India gave its approval to the visit while also reminding the Prime Minister that the model code of conduct is in force . The Prime Minister is expected to be in Badrinath tomorrow that happens to be another holy Himalayan shrine in the Char Dham religious circuit of Uttarakhand.
