Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be releasing a commemorative postal stamp, coin and a first-day cover on the occasion of 75th anniversary of flag hoisting by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. PM has already arrived in Port Blair and he is also scheduled to inaugurate a solar power plant as well as a solar village.
Later the PM will travel to Tsunami Memorial at Car Nicobar and lay a wreath at the memorial; then he will light a candle at the Wall of Lost Souls.
From there PM Modi will open the ITI at Arong and will lay the foundation stone for some other infrastructure projects that are planned for near future. Sources say he is also expected to attend a public meeting.
A few days ago, the BJP government has taken a decision to rename the three islands in Andaman and Nicobar- Ross Island to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island, Neil Island to Shaheed Dweep and Havelock Island to Swaraj Dweep.
