A strange enquiry from the AP & Telangana Governor E.S.L Narasimhan’s office has shocked the administration of Andhra University. Apparently, the Governor’s office queried about why the University management has refused approval for Prime Minister’s meeting on the varsity grounds after the state BJP leaders appealed for it.
After BJP leader Vishnu Kumar Raju offered an application to the Governor’s office, a reply from the varsity management was asked. It is understood that the Andhra University management has rejected the permit because it is a political party meeting. “Had it been a government function, the university would have allowed it. But it is a political party meeting. APSCHE order clearly states that no approval can be given to religious or political meetings,” said University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nageswara Rao.
Nevertheless, Andhra Pradesh BJP leaders say that the Telugu Desam government has assured that the approval is not granted for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting and therefore, they are doing this. Nevertheless, political circles have been shocked as to why the Governor had to intervene in such an affair which is for the state to deal with.
