Modi delivers first election promise, creates Jal Shakti Ministry

Prime Minister Narendra Modi constituted a Minister for Jal Shakti on Friday and appointed Gajendra Singh Shekhawat as the Minister. Water resources, River development and Ganga Rejuvenation Ministry is now going to be replaced by this newly created ministry and would ensure optimal utilisation of water. Narendra Modi had promised during an election rally in Tamil Nadu that if the Bharatiya Janata Party was voted to power then its government is going to ensure the establishment of a separate ministry for Jal Shakti. Former Minister of State for farmers and agriculture welfare Gajendra Singh Shekhawat happens to be a two time Lok Sabha MP from Jodhpur constituency of Rajasthan.
