According to the information received from RTI, 3,386 more eligibility certificates were issued by the Medical council of India to foreign medical aspirants seeking to enroll in the year of 2018 in an overseas medical University.
What is to be noted is that in the number of students going abroad since 2015, there has been a constant increase. According to the information received from RTI, the number of students who have applied for the mandatory certificate of eligibility from the Medical council of India for studying medicine abroad almost doubled in the year 2017-18 from 2016-17.
2018 actually witnessed a further hike in the numbers. Only from January 2014, the mandate of procuring an eligibility certificate for studying medicine abroad came into force. The RTI’s reply also suggested that the number of eligibility certificates issued actually includes pending of the previous years.
