Mamidikaya pulihora is a South Indian recipe that can be prepared at home with raw mango, peanuts, curry leaves, rice, green chillies, some spices and cashews.

This rice recipe is a lot similar to lemon rice i.e., nimmakaya pulihora which is usually made at home. Since mangoes are available abundantly this season, go ahead and try this recipe if you want to eat something tangy and sour.

Ingredients required:
Medium sized raw mango: 2
Rice: 5 cups
Raw peanuts: 4 tablespoon
Refined oil: 2 tablespoon
Cashews: 2 tablespoon
Salt: as per taste

Ingredients required for tempering:
Mustard seeds: 1 1/2 teaspoon
Chana Dal: 1 1/2 teaspoon
Ginger: 1 teaspoon
Split black gram: 1 tablespoon
Red chilli: 2
Asafoetida: half teaspoon
Curry leaves: 8
Green chilli: 4
Turmeric: half teaspoon

Preparation method:

To begin with, heat oil in a pan over medium flame. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter, add split black gram and Chana Dal to it. Keep frying until the mixture turns golden brown.

Now add curry leaves, red chillies, green chilli, turmeric, asafoetida and ginger followed by thorough tossing.

Lower the flame, add pieces of raw mango, peanuts and cashews. Keep frying for a few seconds and add cooked rice and salt to it. Take it off the flame and place a lid over it for a few minutes. Serve it hot with a side dish of your choice.
