Kamal Hassan files anticipatory bail petition in HC

President of Makkal Needhi Maiam and actor Kamal Hassan filed anticipatory bail petition on Wednesday before the High Court of Madras saying that his speech was not about Hindus as a whole and was only about Nathuram Godse.

It is to be noted that this petition from Kamal Hassan comes after the Madras high Court refused to quash an FIR against him earlier saying that such petitions cannot be taken up as emergency petitions during the vacation and that if an application for anticipatory bail was filed it could be taken up for hearing.

In his petition, Kamal Hassan told that the offence quoted in the FIR under section 295(A) and 153 (A) of the Indian Penal Code required procedural safety and that the same had been overlooked.

Kamal Hassan also told the complainant had not witnessed the election campaign meeting personally and that it had been stated in the FIR clearly.
