Chief of YSR Congress party YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Navya Andhra Pradesh today at 12: 33 PM. The oath taking ceremony was attended by approximately 40,000 people at Indira Gandhi Municipal stadium Vijayawada. Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh ESL Narasimhan attended the event accompanied by his wife and administered the oath of office to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Chief Minister of Telangana Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao and President of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MK Stalin were present at the swearing in ceremony. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy arrived in an open Jeep and went around the stadium with the crowd amid loud sloganeering and sharing.
As governor ESL Narasimhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, he swore in the name of God and took the oath in Telugu. All-faith prayer meet also took place with religious leaders from Christianity, Islam and Hinduism reading the prayers seeking bountiful rain. Chief of DMK MK Stalin addressed the public in Telugu and congratulated the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh while Chief Minister of Telangana Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao also spoke and congratulated Jagan.
CM KCR told that people have given a huge mandates to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and that at a young age, Jagan has to shoulder big responsibilities. KCR also told that he is willing to extend cooperation of the government of Telangana and the responsibility lies on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in utilising the waters of River Krishna and River Godavari efficiently.
Interestingly Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy began his speech saying ‘Jagan ane nenu’ with the crowd replying with a rousing welcome. YS Jagan recalled his father yatra and thanked the people for the huge mandate. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy told that he is there to listen to people and realise their dreams. He thanked MK Stalin for attending the function and wished him become the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Jagan Mohan Reddy also told that YSR Congress party released only a two-page manifesto unlike other parties in order for everyone to understand it.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also told in his maiden speech as the Chief Minister of the state that the manifesto happens to be the Quran, the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita for him. Jagan Mohan Reddy also made his first sign to hike old age pension from Rs 1000 to Rs 2500. CM of Andhra Pradesh also told that the YSR Congress government wants the Navratna scheme reach everybody irrespective of caste, Creed and religion.
CM Jagan also told that 4,00,000 village volunteers are going to be recruited for this purpose by 15th of August and are going to be paid Rs 5000. Another 1.6 lakh jobs are going to be provided at village secretariats with this. Jagan Mohan Reddy also announced that all applications at secratariats are going to be addressed to in only 72 hours. Jagan Mohan Reddy also told his maiden speech that the administration is going to be cleansed from top to bottom in a span of 6 months.
He also told that he is going to appoint a judicial Commission for looking into tenders and also sought an appointment with the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh high court. Accusing the section of media that favoured former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Nara Chandrababu Naidu, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy told that the channels only wanted Chandrababu Naidu to be the Chief Minister of the state and also took the names of Andhra jyothi, Eenadu and TV5 news channels.
He also sought the blessings of his late father and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his mother YS Vijayamma. On winding up his speech, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy approached his mother who was in tears of joy. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao and MK Stalin received felicitations from each other and left the dais.
