Foxconn, Taiwanese contract manufacturer is going to begin the commercial production of iPhone X range of smartphones from Apple from July from its 160-acre factory off Chennai. An official privy to the company’s plans inform that foxconn is going to begin the production of iPhone x from the Chennai plant. the official also told that the plans are for setting up production capacity and diversifying to even higher models going forward.
The official also told that sustained increase in manufacturing is going to depend on the continuation of a favourable incentive regime into the next government among other factors. Mails sent to foxconn and Apple seeking comment on this topic however remain unanswered. National president for ICEA Pankaj Mohindroo told that, as far as import substitution is concerned, the phased manufacturing program and the differential duty worked in the short term.
