Yesterday, at the International Court of Justice, Joint Secretary of Ministry of External Affairs, Deepak Mittal, declined to shake hands with Pakistan’s Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan. The two were at ICJ to serve the proceedings of Kulbhushan Jadhav case. Kulbhushan Jadhav was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of terrorism back in April 2017.
Pakistan’s AG Anwar attempted to shake hands with Mittal but the latter refused and answered with a customary ‘Namaste’. The picture of the same went viral on the internet. The bit is now the talk of the town. Presumably, this is not the first time. During the first hearing in Jadhav case in the Netherlands, Mittal chose the same way to greet Pakistan’s Syed Faraz Hussain Zaidi.
Netizens approved Deepak Mittal’s gesture by stating that we can’t shake hands with a terror nation. What Deepak did is like a tight slap to Pakistan and the nation is obliged for keeping Pulwama martyrs in mind. While the hearing in the Kulbhushan Jadhav reopens today before the International Court of Justice.
