Four new SC judges take oath of office

Four new justices of the Supreme Court were administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi on 24th May, Friday. The swearing in of the four Justices is going to add up to the number of the judges in the Apex Court that currently stands at 31 which happens to be the fully sanctioned strength of Supreme Court.

Justice Suryakant, AS Bopanna BR Gavai and Aniruddha Bose were administered oath of office by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi in Court No 1 in the presence of several other sitting Supreme Court Justices.

It is to be noted the President of India Ramnath Kovind had issued warrant for the appointment of the Justices on Wednesday, though the names of Justice AS Bopanna and Aniruddha Bose were returned by the centre to the Supreme Court collegium earlier because of the reasons of representation of regions and seniority.
