Election Commission serves notice to KCR

The Election Commission of India has served notice to Telangana CM KCR for violating the model code of conduct and for allegedly making derogatory comments against Hindus at an election campaign in Karimnagar on March 17th.


The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) state president M Rama Raju, who found KCR’s comments are insulting has filed a complaint and EC has served the notice accordingly. The Election Commission in its notice said it had examined the English translation version of the speech and made the version clear that these comments come under Election Code of Conduct which has the potential to disturb religious harmony.

The EC has asked the Telangana CM KCR to submit an explanation on or before April 12.
