WhatsApp admitted in a statement on Monday that a cyber security breach in the application left millions of users suddenly vulnerable to malicious spyware installed on their respective smartphones.
This security vulnerability affects both Android and iPhone WhatsApp users which is why WhatsApp is urging its users to update their applications as soon as possible.
Used by approximately 1.5 billion users, WhatsApp confirmed the security vulnerability but did not name the perpetrator.
The statement told that WhatsApp encourages its users to upgrade to the latest version of the application as well as keep their mobile operating system up-to-date for protecting against potential exploits designed for compromising information stored on phones.
